First Adventure 09/27/2008

Since there was no time to plan for Grandma Jane's visit, Saturday Dusty, Niran, Grandma Jane and I headed out to the store to get some necessities. While out on our little adventure we stopped by Aunt Brandi's work to say hi and show Niran off to everyone. While shopping Aunt E-mon, who was visiting from Las Vegas, showed up and gave Niran a lucky gold ring and of course cuddled with her newest great nephew.
One very proud Aunt E-mon giving Niran is lucky gold ring and a proud Daddy overlooking.

Niran's First Day!

After cutting the trip to the hospital a little short, we left at 10 minutes and still cut it close, and a quick delivery Niran was off to his first day of life. Here he was not too happy about his new weather conditions or the strangers poking him. Dad made sure we had many pictures of his first moments. He even got a video that you can find at the bottom. The official weigh in: 7 pounds 7 ounces and 19 inches long. I think he was trying to ask Dad if he was going to rescue him.

First bath. He screamed and screamed until the nurse started pouring the warm water over his body, then he calmed down.
Okay so funny story...Monday my mother asked me if she could come down Tuesday since I started false labor. I said no, let's wait and see what happens. After the doctor's appointmnet Wednesday she wanted to come down that evening. Dusty and I decided to have her wait until Thursday morning after we all got a good nights sleep. Well, none of us got that good nights sleep. I called my mom at 12:15 am as I was walking out the door and told her I didn't think she was going to make it in time. She said she had a feeling when the phone rang. Well, this is me (still very proud, can you tell?) letting her know that she didn't make it in time, but she is still a grandmother for the fourth time.

Here he is much happier and much warmer. He's probably about an hour old.

Proud Dad, he may have been exhausted from being up for almost 24 hours straight, but never too tired stare at his boy.

Just so you know, Niran is a cuddle-bug. From day 1 he's enjoyed cuddle time with mom and dad and anyone else who is willing to spend a couple of moments with him.

Here's that proud Grandma Jane I was telling you about. All the way in from Reno. She came 8 hours later, but the wait was worth it I'm sure. I do want to thank Grandpa Udon and Grandma Kim for running by the airport to pick her up so Dad didn't have to leave his family.

Proud Auntie Brandi. I know she was hoping for a chunky nephew, all the sweets she supplied me while I was pregnant makes me believe this. but I know she was pleased with her not-so-chunky, white nephew.

Uncle McKay is proud too. I think Aunt Brandi didn't let him prepare for the picture better.

This is Uncle Evin. He doesn't have any blood relation to us, but he is one of Dusty's best friends and he did call regularly to check in on mom and baby so he definitely deserves the title. Dan came along to meet Niran as well, but he isn't quite ready to hold Niran. I still should have at least gotten a picture of him close to Niran. Next time I see him, I'll be sure to get that done.

NOTE: Grandpa Udon and Grandma Kim did come by and visit Niran in the hospital and I did take pictures. I just didn't take pictures that turned out. We'll have to try again on the next visit.
After a long day of new experiences and new people Niran had to take a nap and what better way than to sleep with your arms above your head. Doesn't he look precious? I think so!

This is Uncle Ry-Ry. Again, there is no blood relation, just Dusty's best friend. He wasn't too pleased that we didn't call when we were on the way to the hospital so he could meet us there, especially since the text message we sent went unnoticed until morning. Still he was able to make it out Jenn to meet the little guy the following Saturday. As you can see he is very proud.
So that is Niran's first day, a very busy day indeed.
And to finish this off...Ever wonder how sweet, little Niran handled his first moments of life?
Kicking and screaming like most other babies...

As soon as Dad finished cutting the cord, he ran over to check on his boy and immediately began filming. This is the same video that he shows friends.
Of course there are many other adventures to come for this little man and I will do my best to keep up with every one of them.
