Just Like His Mama!

When Niran was born we had a lot of people say he looked like his Daddy and I fully agree with it.

But Niran has changed a lot since then, especially starting in November.
(he looks so cozy)
In February when my mom came down to visit, she brought some photos of me growing up. Looking through them I couldn't believe how much Niran looked like me. It was actually quite scary. I showed Dusty last night and he agreed that he resembles me quite a bit. This picture we thought was dead on.

This isn't the best picture, but if it was better you might think that was a sweet Baby Niran and not actually his Mama.

My brother and me. I'm not sure how old I was exactly in these two pictures, but I had to be close to Niran's age, but probably younger.

We don't have many pictures of him without his band right now. With his band he looks like a completely different baby.

This was at my first birthday, but I like this one, because Niran has that same look all the time when he's looking at food.
So what might this little guy look like down the road?

Mama, at 1 year. Look at that hair, remember when Niran had whispy hair like that? Not too mention look at how dark my hair was and then look at this pic:

Mama, about 1 and a half. We probably will skip the mullet. And that blonde hair! Is it a matter of time before Niran has the same hair color?

Dusty's Magic Days Are Over

For the time being...

Dusty loved playing Magic: The Gathering (MTG) and I think we can both agree there was probably waaaayyyy too much money spent on this hobby. We've had boxes of cards, deck boxes, sleeves, this and that stored in the closet upstairs and it's just happily hung out in storage for a few years. We did try to sell cards individually on ebay, but it's more of a pain and not worth the money you actually make. Well, while I was exploring on Craigslist one day, I found someone who said they buy MTG cards and for more than a store would buy them. So I put together a list of what we had a waited for an offer. Well, is offer was decent enough that we agreed to meet with him and in turn sell Dusty's collection. He kept a few decks and we even made a deck for Niran...just in case. If Niran decides that he wants to play Magic, then I'm sure Dad will be more than happy to teach him.

Recycle, Reduce, ReUSE

Aunt Brandi helped pull some of the extra slats off of the blinds in the dining room. I never did anything with them and just left them on the floor under the window. Niran has discovered them and seems to love them, so I gave him a few and told him to enjoy.

I need to remember that I don't need to buy him toys, but to let him play with un-needed items around the house.

Niran's Weekend May 16 & 17

We went to Cousin Beau's final T-ball game Saturday and decided we'd push the boy in his new buggy. He did a good job steering although for awhile he took his hands off the steering wheel. We were secretly hoping he'd be willing to play in it while we watched the game, which worked until he spotted the grass and Aunt Brandi's foot.

After Niran took his nap I set him loose in his play room. He found a new way to play on his swing. And even took on the Superman pose.

After some play time it was lunch time. I usually set the bowl away from Niran so he can't reach it, but this day I set it away from him and then moved him right next to it. When I got back from the kitchen this is the sight I found:

My response
Take the spoon too kid.
After lunch I had pull the clothes off and carrying him with arms straight out all the way to the bathtub. Which of course he didn't mind because that meant more time to play.
After his afternoon nap and again after dinner he spent some time playing in his playroom, which is still very exciting and new for him
I actually have a video some place of Niran crawling in and out of his little tent, but I can't find it. So this will have to do for now. The middle picture is him playing in the top which he does all the time.

Playroom

We've left the front room open since we moved in. We don't have the furniture or money to really do anything with it. We did try to move the couches and tv into it since ite does stay a lot cooler than the family room, but we didn't have a long enough cable for the tc and we really didn't want to go out and purchase one. After putting the family room back together I tried figuring out what we could possibly do with that room. I had a bunch of Niran's toys piled in there and out of the way of our furniture moving and seeing all that the idea struck me...make Niran his own playroom. That's exactly what I did. He loves it and we love it too. We can put him in there and he'll stay distracted for a good hour playing with all his toys. Especially this little tent/sandbox thing Aunt Brandi gave us. He'll crawl in and out of it no problem. Not to mention it makes a pretty cool noise when you kick it.
Overhead view and first thing he did was make a mess. Ground view and Niran trying to get in the shot.

Catch-up

I received a 10 minute lecture from Jeff last night on the importance of keeping up the blog so that friends and family, particularly him, could keep up with our happenings. I had to walk away with my head down because even though I felt my excuses were valid, they really weren't. So here we go on a quick review.
Nothing really has been happening. We're still on the hunt for jobs and I believe living out in Queen Creek may be hurting us. I have seen many ads say they want people who live within a 5 or 10 mile radius. I did find out that it takes us 30-45 minutes to get to the US 60 and Power Road from our house, which is an 18.5 mile drive. And yes I did make it during rush hour. I got to my destination by 7:45 and I also stopped at Dunkin Donut's. So, I don't believe I should be disqualified for my distance any longer. If I were to live in town and had to drive through many traffic lights it might take just as long. I would love a receptionist position and Dusty wants to find a warehouse, but currently anything would be wonderful!

So here's Niran hanging out around the house since the first of May:

Chillin' like a villian.

Working on his laptop, literally on it.
The coffee table is a jungle gym now.
He's being held prisoner. We keep trying to get a picture of his attempting to bite the mesh, but he always stops and gives a smile.
This is the way to stand in his walker. It helps stand up even higher. I'm always scared he's going climb right out, but I know he's far from that.
Snack time...and when he's done he reaches for more.
He has a patchy beard just like his father!
